Joe Starcevic grew up in Albia as a classical violinist, starting at age 7 and playing with the Ottumwa Heights College Orchestra by age 10. He received Division I ratings in high school State contests on several instruments, is Albia’s only All State instrumentalist all 4 years of high school, and in his senior year was one of 2 high school seniors from Iowa selected for the All American Band. He has continued his involvement in music over the years with several groups, playing and singing at his church and for various community events. Introduced to Bluegrass by Darin Manson, he now concentrates on fiddle music and is also learning to play the mandolin. After years as a corporate attorney in the telecommunications industry, Joe moved his practice back to his home town in 2004.
